With a beautiful and vibrant campus, Surrey provides exceptional teaching and practical learning to inspire and empower their students for personal and professional success.

At Surrey, discovery and innovation shapes their learning and research. They’re addressing the global challenges facing humanity, and equipping graduates for future careers in a changing world.  Surrey is driving for a better tomorrow.

The role of the Advancement team is to work with the academic community to engage alumni, friends, companies and trusts in the support of the University. They are responsible for sustaining a lifelong relationship with Surrey’s worldwide alumni community of over 142,000 graduates and raising funds to support students and the University’s research and teaching activities.

In early 2022, the University publicly launched ‘The Future Says Surrey’, an ambitious international fundraising campaign to raise £60 million in three years.  Their community has responded to Surrey’s call to action, and they’ve made significant progress towards their goals.  An opportunity has now opened to join them as the new Associate Director, Principal Giving, and help to successfully complete this campaign and collaborate on shaping the roadmap for what’s next.

As the Associate Director, Principal Giving, you will report to the Director of Advancement and work closely with key senior stakeholders, including the Vice-Chancellor, in engaging philanthropic support of £500,000 and above.  We are looking for someone to bring experience of designing and delivering special gift opportunities through sophisticated relationship building and management, and unlock the potential for more of these at Surrey.  They have highly engaged academic champions who bring great ideas and opportunities to the Advancement team, and a leadership that is ambitious to achieve more – this will require someone experienced in philanthropy, with the ability to navigate ambiguity with resilience, a positive attitude and a solutions-focussed approach.  Could that be you?

The team has created a strong culture of collaboration, collegiality, and teamwork, and it’s important that new colleagues share these values.  If this sounds like the career opportunity and environment you are looking to grow and make your mark in, please get in touch.

Applications must be in the form of a CV and covering letter (up to 2 pages each) that summarises your interest in this post, providing evidence of your ability to match the criteria outlined in the Person Specification.  Please download the Information for Candidates pack for more information.
