Closing Date. Monday 9th August

Founded almost 700 years ago in 1326 by King Edward II, today Oriel College continues to sit at the heart of a world-leading, 21st century University of Oxford.  At our core, we are a hub of intellectual activity; seeking to educate exceptional undergraduate and graduate students through the dissemination of ideas, and the pioneering research and teaching of our academics. Oriel students benefit from many sporting, musical and social opportunities that enable them to develop talent beyond their studies. The richness of the College experience they receive prepares them for successful lives, wherever their ambitions take them.

As we approach our eighth century, Oriel is committed to maintaining and building on the global excellence in education, research and outreach that we have achieved so far.  To achieve this ambition, we are embarking on the next exciting phase of our ambitious fundraising campaign, and an exceptional opportunity has arisen to lead our well established and professional operation as our new Director of Development & Alumni Engagement.

You will become a Fellow of the College and work very closely with the Provost and Governing Body on the strategic advancement of the College.  Through motivating and leading a high-performing team, you will drive our successful fundraising and alumni engagement activities, within the UK and internationally, to new heights.  It’s essential that you bring a proven track record in development, particularly major gift fundraising at the 6-figure level or more, and highly developed diplomacy, communication and interpersonal skills.  Your confident and approachable leadership style, and ability to show good judgement when working with key stakeholders, will help you inspire and win the confidence of the community around you.

If you believe you are ready for a senior role like this and are committed to demonstrating the importance of philanthropy for higher education, we’d like to hear from you.

Oriel is a welcoming academic community in the heart of Oxford, a place of study and learning for nearly 700 years. Home to world-class teaching, learning and research, Oriel welcomes students and staff from all over the world.
