Fundraising Manager, Major Gifts

Location. Portsmouth, UK

Salary. £40,000 - £49,500

Closing Date. Wednesday 18th August

Progressive, vibrant and a testament to our city’s heritage, we are a new breed of university set within a buzzing, diverse city with plenty of stories to tell. We’re proud to be a breath of fresh air in the academic world – a place where everyone gets the support they need to achieve their best.

Fundraising is playing an important part in ensuring our success. As part of our five-year vision and strategy, we have invested significantly to grow the capacity and expertise in our Alumni Relations and Advancement [A&A] team. We are now looking for a Fundraising Manager, Major Gifts, to play a vital role in our fundraising efforts.

As an important member of the A&A team, the Fundraising Manager, Major Gifts will be primarily responsible for cultivating high level gifts in line with University priorities and donor motivations to make a transformative difference. The Manager will report to and work closely with the Associate Director of Alumni & Advancement in devising, implementing and managing fundraising strategies, pipelines and plans, ensuring that revenue targets are achieved or exceeded. The post holder will develop partnerships and supporter relationships to build philanthropic impact within the University.

You are a team player who understands and is driven by the power of philanthropy to create positive change, aligning personal passion with the University’s priorities to make a difference. Underpinning your success in this role will be your demonstrable track record of securing five figure gifts, utilising your ability to gain the trust and confidence of those around you. Your pragmatism, resilience, and enterprising mindset will enable you to establish strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

The University of Portsmouth has been awarded an Athena SWAN Bronze Award for our commitment to gender equality, and we've got plenty of other awards and ranking successes to shout about too – but first and foremost, we're here to create bigger and better opportunities for all. We're building a brighter future and we're looking for a new Alumni Relations and Advancement team member to help us get there.

You will be joining us at an exciting time of growth and opportunity for both the University and the A&A team, who work within an award-winning directorate.

An award-winning university, the University of Portsmouth is a special place. Progressive, vibrant and a testament to our city’s heritage, they are a new kind of university and a breath of fresh air in the academic world. They are intent on discovery and connecting with their local and global community.
