Head of Philanthropy

Location. London, UK

Salary. Competitive Salary and Benefits

Closing Date. Tuesday 30th April

UWC is a global family of schools with a powerful difference. With a shared goal of working towards global peace and sustainability, we bring together a diverse range of young people from around the world to study in one of our 17 schools on four continents. Our approach to education crosses the traditional boundaries of academic excellence, we equip our students with the skills they need to become global change-makers. Here they learn how to communicate across cultural boundaries, they design and engage in initiatives that transform their lives and the lives of others and they become part of a global community of over 60,000 proud alumni.

The UWC International Office is the executive arm of UWC International, a UK-registered charity, and is situated at the heart of the UWC movement. It is currently located in an office in central London and a second office will soon be opened in Berlin.

UWC International collaborates closely with all stakeholders from across the UWC
movement, engages the UWC alumni community of more than 60,000 members and serves UWC International’s governance bodies.

Global fundraising is one of the core functions of UWC International, with over 80% of
national committee selected boarding students at UWC schools and colleges receiving a
scholarship to enable access to a UWC education, independent of socio-economic means.

This is a rare opportunity for a strategic fundraising professional to join this unique
international organisation. Reporting to the Deputy Executive Director, you will lead a small team and work collaboratively with colleagues and volunteers across UWC’s global network of development professionals and senior volunteers, leading on the development and implementation of a robust global fundraising strategy.

Your impressive fundraising track record, particularly your ability to work with (ultra)
high-net-worth individuals and secure major gifts, will be matched by your sophisticated
relationship building skills. You are a strategic thinker with exceptional communication skills. Fundamental to success in this role will be your sensitivity to UWC’s complexity and cultural diversity and your ability to build the trust necessary to make this role a natural hub for the organisation’s varied fundraising operations.
