The University of Birmingham has been challenging and developing great minds for more than a century.
Characterised by a tradition of innovation, research at the University has broken new ground, pushed forward the boundaries of knowledge and made a transformational impact on people’s lives. We continue this tradition today and our academics here are tackling some of the world’s most pressing global challenges.
Our University has a proud history of philanthropy stretching back to its foundation in 1900. With a clear vision to change the lives of the people of Birmingham, Joseph Chamberlain raised the funds required to build the University from citizens and corporations based locally and around the globe. Since then philanthropy has continued to play an important role in shaping the University.
Birmingham In Action is the University’s ambitious new fundraising and volunteering campaign. It brings together, under one banner, many of the University’s most charitable research and education activities, and the impactful volunteering undertaken by the University community. The campaign was publicly launched in October 2019 and aims to transform lives for our generation and the next by tackling the world’s biggest challenges, today. These challenges include access to education, youth mental health, cancer, migration and the environment.
This is an exceptional opportunity to play a key role in the success of our campaign. The Head of Principal Giving will be responsible for developing and implementing a robust strategy to secure principal philanthropic support of 7-8 figures, from donors in the UK and internationally.
As a senior member of the Transformational Philanthropy team, you will bring a track record of successfully managing a portfolio of relationships with high net worth individuals and securing gifts at the 6 figure level and more. Key to your success in this role is your enterprising spirit, as well as your sophisticated communication, influencing and interpersonal skills. Your collaborative, agile and approachable manner will inspire colleagues around you and enable you to maximise philanthropic opportunities for the University.
If you are attracted by the opportunity of being part of a dedicated and ambitious fundraising team and would like to contribute to our future growth and success, please get in touch to learn more.
