Enabling Women in Africa to Give Birth Safely
Globally, every day, 786 women die trying to have a baby. 70% occur in Africa, the vast majority avoidable. Deaths and obstetric fistulas occur in Africa simply because many women don’t have access to safe medical care.
Barbara May Foundation has responded to this need by facilitating free and safe care for poor and vulnerable women during childbirth and for those already suffering from complications arising from childbirth.
Established in 2009 by Medical Director, Dr Andrew Browning AM, an obstetrician and gynaecologist and one of the world’s leading fistula surgeons, Barbara May Foundation supports hospitals in Ethiopia, Tanzania, South Sudan, and Northern Uganda via their implementing partners. Receiving no government funding, Barbara May Foundation relies solely on philanthropic support.
They now seek a Planned Giving Manager who will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of the Foundation’s planned giving program, growing their planned giving portfolio.
A self-motivated fundraising professional with humility and a deep intellectual and cultural curiosity, you bring a combination of strong relationship management skills, strategic planned giving and/or major gift fundraising expertise, and the ability to convey the impact of giving on maternal health outcomes in Africa. Embodying the values of the Foundation and a commitment to the organisation’s mission will be critical to success. In return you will be joining a supportive, purpose-driven and collaborative team where successes are celebrated and challenges are shared.
All staff work from home but meet once a month in Gordon, NSW.
