UCL’s diverse and global community of world-class academics, staff, students and alumni have the freedom and courage to challenge, question and think differently.

They continuously break boundaries and develop solutions to real world problems.

In 2020, UCL closed one of the most successful fundraising campaigns in the UK’s higher education sector, which raised £624M and galvanised their community.  Since then, the Advancement team has undertaken a strategic review of their programmes and started to design a roadmap for what’s next.  This has led to the creation of 3 new Associate Director roles.

We are looking for talented people to join UCL to design and deliver new programmes for their Regular Giving, Legacy Giving and Donor Experience & Events initiatives.

As the Associate Director of Regular Giving, you will creatively engage current students and their families, academics, university leadership and alumni globally, to increase participation levels and garner cross-institutional support for the Regular Giving programme. Your work will not only be integral to the growth of a culture of philanthropy, but it will also be key to the evolution of the legacy and major gift programmes.

You will bring substantial experience and success in developing fundraising strategies and running innovative direct marketing fundraising programmes. We are looking for a candidate who has proven that they can design and launch this type of programme, and who has a deep understanding of how this discipline is evolving and how to engage UCL’s supporters.  It is important that you also know how a regular giving programme feeds into a wider fundraising pipeline, particularly in the identification of potential for major gifts and legacies.  You will have strong strategic, relationship-building and communication skills, as well as a track record of successful internal stakeholder engagement and the ability to work through complexity and areas of ambiguity that comes with a large organisation.

In return, you will join the Advancement team at an incredibly exciting time as they plan for UCL’s biggest ever fundraising and engagement campaign, launching in UCL’s bicentenary year, 2026.  The Advancement unit are a team of passionate individuals who work together to achieve remarkable things with a global impact.

UCL says, “Our people really are their greatest asset and we invest in them so that they can fulfil their potential.  Equity, diversity and inclusion is important to us. We are committed to creating an environment where everyone is encouraged to give their best in a place where their unique experiences, perspectives and skills are seen as valuable assets. We also prioritise work-life balance and offer agile working and flexibility around working hours.  We are happy to receive part-time applications for all of our job opportunities, and can consider a 0.8FTE working pattern for this role.  And we particularly welcome applications from candidates who are likely to be underrepresented in UCL’s workforce.

Applications must be in the form of a CV and covering letter (up to 2 pages each) that summarises your interest in this post, providing evidence of your ability to match the criteria outlined in the Person Specification.  Please download the Information for Candidates pack for more information.
