Since their founding, UCL has always done things differently.
Continuously breaking boundaries, this university develops solutions to real world problems.
UCL’s diverse and global community of world-class academics, staff, students and alumni have the freedom and courage to challenge, question and think differently.
In 2020, UCL Advancement closed one of the most successful fundraising campaigns in the UK’s higher education sector, which raised £624M and galvanised their community. Since then, they have undertaken a strategic review of their programmes and are designing a roadmap for what’s next. They are investing significantly in the Advancement team and have created 2 new roles to lead key alumni engagement initiatives at UCL.
This is an incredibly exciting time as UCL plans for their biggest ever fundraising and engagement campaign, launching in their bicentenary year, 2026.
As one of the new Heads of Alumni & Supporter Relations, you will lead a talented, creative and fun team that works with UCL’s 430,000+ alumni in 190 countries, to keep them engaged and active within the global community. You will be responsible for the delivery of gold-standard alumni engagement programmes and experiences, thinking through how UCL shows up for their alumni, and how alumni can show up for UCL.
As the Head of Alumni & Supporter Relations (Faculty & Programmes), you will lead a team to work across the Faculties at UCL, developing innovative and inspiring programmes to showcase the research and teaching power of the university. You will also drive the honorary, graduation milestones, parents and newly revamped volunteering programmes, drawing the community closer.
As the Head of Alumni & Supporter Relations (Regions), you will lead a team that will be the Advancement team’s eyes and ears on the ground in the community, wherever they are based. You will help to deliver the activity that the Faculty & Programmes team devise and gain insights and feedback to help inform future programming. You and your team will also work closely with the fundraisers, developing strategies and tactics to encourage philanthropy in support of UCL.
These roles will require highly collaborative community engagement specialists, with experience of working with and getting the best out of volunteers and key stakeholders. The strength you bring in building relationships, and your highly developed interpersonal skills and entrepreneurial spirit will underpin your success. There are opportunities to build new programmes and initiatives, and it will be important that you are energised by the idea of this and the opportunity to travel and represent UCL as a brand ambassador.
